Held a Spot

You shouldn’t have to chase a Venmo to find out who’s actually coming.

Held a Spot takes reservations and payments together, so you never have to ask. Your people know a paid spot is a held spot.

No “are we still on?” the night before. No reminding anyone twice. No counting heads at the door and hoping.

$1 per paid spot, on top of normal card fees. No monthly bill. How the fee works

Send one link. Whoever pays is on your list, and you’ve been paid before anyone shows up.

If it moves or it rains, their page and their calendar change with it.

How it works

  1. 01

    Set your price.

Pick your day and time, how many people fit, and what a spot costs. Not sure what to charge?

  2. 02

    Send one link.

Paste it into the message you were going to send anyway. Nobody makes an account.

  3. 03

    Read one list.

Only the people who paid are on it, so your count at the door is the real one.

Common questions

What does it cost?

$1 per paid spot, on top of normal card fees. No monthly bill. It comes out of the payment, and there is no setup fee.

Do my people need an account?

No. They open your link, type their name, and pay. That is the whole thing.

When is a spot actually held?

The moment a payment clears, and not before. Saying “I’m in”, joining the waitlist, or a payment that never finishes holds nothing. Your list is exactly the people who paid.

What happens if I move the session, or it rains?

You save the change once. The session page updates, and so does the calendar of everyone who paid. Nobody loses their spot.

What if I have to cancel?

Every paid spot is released and recorded as a credit toward the next one. Nothing goes back to a card on its own, so if someone would rather have their money back than a credit, that is yours to settle with them directly.

Can someone cancel?

Yes. Their spot is released and their payment becomes a credit toward your next one, rather than an automatic refund. The credit is recorded separately. Using it on a later session is not automatic yet. A successful Stripe refund voids it.

How do I get paid?

Through Stripe. The account is created for you from your own setup page, so there is no separate sign-up, and Stripe then asks for your tax ID (an SSN or an EIN), your bank account, and a few other details it needs before money can move. We do not ask for or store those details in Held a Spot. What Stripe does with them is in their privacy policy. Stripe’s privacy policy.
